InfoUSA Košice Celebrates Five Years of Community Service with Drama, Song and Photo Exhibit

InfoUSA Košice, the American resources reading room at the State Scientific Library in the heart of Košice, marked its fifth anniversary on March 24 with an official program and special photo exhibit opening. The Embassy's Chargé d'Affaires Keith Eddins was joined by the Vice Mayor of Kosice, the Library's Director, representatives from US Steel as well as many educational institutions in Eastern Slovakia in celebrating the Center's continual service to its community as a provider of up-to-date information on the US. Its coordinator, Jozef Fabrici, described the activities of the Center over the five years, including digital video conferences, discussion clubs, American expert and US government officials speaker programs -- and even live music. Students from the English drama club of Thomas Aquinas secondary school in Košice performed African-American gospels and dramatic scenes focused on the search for citizen rights and freedom for American citizens and Slovak immigrants to the US. Chargé Eddins opened an extensive photo exhibit about the history of InfoUSA in Slovakia. In his remarks, Mr. Eddins said: "It is the users of InfoUSA services who are their first priority."
