About InfoUSA

The InfoUSA centers in Slovakia are part of a world-wide network of 406 „American Corners“ and represent close partnerships between the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Bratislava and the administrations of the three libraries in which they are housed.

Each center contains a core collection, funded by the Embassy, of print and multi-media materials about American history, government, culture and people, as well as technical equipment including digital video conferencing (DVC) capability.

Slovak users of the InfoUSA Centers find direct, real-time connections with what is happening in the United States that is of interest to them.

In each center, the circulating collection and study space provide the platform for a growing number of traditional and non-traditional activities: exhibits by Slovak and American artists; musical performances; literature readings; discussions with Embassy officers and American experts in person or by DVC.  Digital video conferencing allows university students in the three Slovak cities to interact with American students and their professors in center-organized virtual classes.

These centers are gateways to America.  Their mission is to promote mutual understanding between the United States and Slovak Republic.
